Students to work on Carson River

(NEVADA APPEAL NEWS SERVICE) " Students from Lyon and Storey counties will be rolling up their sleeves at Rolling A Ranch for a conservation project the Carson River today.

Carson River Work Days, an event sponsored by the Dayton Valley Conservation District and the Carson River Wranglers, involves more than 150 students from local schools and will cover the entire watershed from the headwaters in Alpine County to the Carson Sink in Churchill County.

The students will work on the conservation projects, test water quality, and learn about the watershed.

Students from Silver Stage High School in Silver Springs will be teaching small groups of elementary students from Silver Springs Elementary School, Riverview Elementary School in Dayton and Hugh Gallagher Elementary School in Virginia City.

Carson River Work Days will also be held Nov. 12 and Nov. 14.
