Three people were injured Thursday morning in a collision on Highway 50 East in Stagecoach.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Chris Brandt, a 16-year-old Stagecoach girl and her 16-year-old female passenger were at the stop sign at Apache Drive in a Chevy pickup. In an attempt to make a left turn onto the highway, the teen driver pulled out in front of a westbound Jeep Cherokee.

The Jeep, driven by 20-year-old Nicole Trotts of Dayton, T-boned the pickup. The vehicles came to rest blocking both the east and west lanes of travel.

Three Care Flight helicopters responded to the scene, transporting both teenage girls and Trotts to Renown Regional Medical Center with "moderate" injuries, said Brandt.

He said the names were not available for either the teen driver or her passenger.

The accident forced commuters onto frontage roads in both directions for several hours.

Brandt said the 16-year-old driver whose birthday was in March, will be cited for failing to yield right of way from a stop sign.
