Two from Silver Springs confirmed dead in early morning crash

The two people killed in an early morning head-on collision on Highway 95 Alternate outside of Fernley a have been identified as Cheyenne Simon, 18 and Larry Bard Sr., 67, both of Silver Springs.

According to a news release from the Nevada Highway Patrol, Simon was southbound in a Mitsubishi Mirage on Highway 95 Alternate in Damons Curve when he crossed the center line and struck Bard's northbound Nissan Exterra.

An unidentified passerby pulled Bard from the wreckage, and then the Exterra burst into flames, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Department.

Both Bard and Simon were pronounced dead at the scene.

Any witnesses to the accident are asked to call Trooper Scott Farmer at 689-4623.
