ELKO " A 41-year-old motorcyclist has been killed in a crash near Elko.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says Lawrence Joseph Barela of Elko was driving a Honda sport bike on the Mountain City Highway about 6 p.m. Tuesday when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road about eight miles north of Elko.
Trooper Jim Stewart says Barela hit a dirt embankment and was thrown about 90 feet into a ravine. He says they have not yet determined how fast he was traveling. The accident remains under investigation.
