Herbert "Cal" Horton

Herbert "Cal" Horton, a long-time Carson City resident, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008, at his home in Carson City. Born in Bluejacket, Oklahoma, he served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Navy as an aerographer. He retired with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. Cal moved to Carson City with his family in 1977 and worked as a real estate broker/salesman until his retirement in 1995. He was once an avid golfer and was known as "the jokester" for the many tales he could tell.

Cal is survived by his wife Lyn; six children Dwayne Horton, Karen Typer, Jennifer Nutting, Chrisann Horton, Yvonne Jorgensen, and Patricia Horton; sisters Ellen Tivey and Sylvia Horton and seven grandchildren.

Services will be held at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith in Carson City Thursday; viewing at 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be noon at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery Fernley. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.
