Janet K. Meder died September 17, 2008.

She was born July 9, 1938 in Winston Salem, N.C. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She heard the call to go west to start her teaching career. She landed in Carson City where she had a teaching career of 35 years. She also started a family and was active in many local programs. She was involved in the Carson Jr. Ski Program, the Hospital Auxiliary, Cub Scout Pack Leader and the First United Presbyterian Church. In all these areas, and her life in general, Janet was someone who gave her entire heart to her pursuit.

Surviving are her husband, John L. Meder of Plumas Lake, Calif.; mother Treva Kimball; brothers Rodger Kimball, Don Kimball; sisters Ann Stafford Dillion and Linda Jarvis all of Winston Salem, N.C.; son Jay Meder and wife, Shawndel of Plumas Lake, Calif.; daughter Jenny Glazier, and husband Ron, of Eugene, Ore.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at The First Presbyterian Church of Carson City.
