Isolated showers, wind for Carson City today

Weather for the Carson City area today will be breezy with isolated showers and west winds 10-15 mph increasing to 15-25 mph in the afternoon with gusts up to 40 mph. Highs 44-54.

Tonight, breezy and mostly cloudy with isolated snow showers in the evening. Los 30-40 with west winds 15-25 mph becoming southwest around 10 mph after midnight.

Thursday, cloudy with a chance of showers. Highs 46-56 with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:48 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for 4-wheel-drive vehicles for 14.3 miles between Kingvale and 1 mile west of Truckee, Calif.

Highway 395 " High wind advisory: Campers and trailers not advised for 6 miles between East Lake Boulevard and Winters Ranch in Washoe Valley.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 5.4 miles between 5 miles north of SR 28 and 10.4 miles north of SR 28.

Utility work is being done on Corbett and East John streets off North Roop Street. Detours are noted for motorists.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House continues with posted lower speed limits and narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
