Hank Monk says he would have joined the temperance society last week, only he does not want to wound the feelings of the eastern tourists who visit this place during the summer by declining a drink with them. The police are doing good work in the way of stopping the selling of whisky and other liquors to the Indians by (Chinese).

The United States double turreted monitor Monadnock is patrolling the bay in the vicinity of Bakoor keeping the rebels in motion and dropping occasional shells among them in response to their musketry fire.

A well attended Scouter's round table dinner was held at the Flor D'Italia Cafe Friday evening with over thirty Scout leaders representing various western communities of the Nevada area council. William Buchanan, scoutmaster from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, was in attendance, and made a most interesting address on Boy Scout activities in Canada.

Leona Fisher's 203-584 led the Dutch Mill to a 3-0 whitewash of Leonard's Richfield in Lucky Strike bowling league Monday night, as the cafe continued to widen first place lead. Charlene Hunt's 152-426 topped the opposition. Gilbert drug dropped Electric Service 3-0, paced by Charlotte Hollingsworth's 201 and Isabel Gold's 495. Mary Chamber's 139-402 topped the electricians.

The Ormsby Public Library by saying thanks to its volunteers is holding a weeklong celebration this week as part of National Volunteer Week including special events and daily drawings for prizes.

It was a painful time for John Fullenwider. In 1989 Fullenwider suffered a career-ending industrial accident, a family death and divorce, but turned those setbacks into strength by building castles. Each castle took six to 18 months to create with the tallest being 8 feet. Made of Nevada rock, each one weighs from 800 to 2,400 pounds.
