BOSTON (AP) " Jason Bay homered off Mariano Rivera with two outs in the ninth to send the game to extra innings, and Kevin Youkilis hit a solo shot in the 11th on Friday night as the Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 5-4 for their eighth straight victory.

Ramon Ramirez (2-0) pitched one inning for the win.

Damaso Marte (0-1) struck out three and allowed one hit, the long drive over the Green Monster for Youkilis' fifth homer and his second game-ender.

Rivera came on with two outs in the eighth and struck out Dustin Pedroia with runners on first and second to end the inning. In the ninth, he gave up a one-out single to Youkilis and, one out later, Bay drove the ball off the top of the 37-foot left-field wall above the 379-foot marker.

Royals 6, Tigers 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) " Zack Greinke struck out 10 in his second straight complete game, shrugging off the end of his scoreless inning streak in the Kansas City Royals' victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Greinke (4-0) allowed an unearned run in the fifth when Gerald Laird led off with a double and scored on shortstop Mike Aviles' throwing error, halting the right-hander's streak at 38 innings. Greinke ended last season with 14 consecutive scoreless innings and opened this year with 24 in a row.

Kansas City's Alberto Callaspo led off the second with his first big league home run, ending the longest homerless drought in the majors among active players. He had gone 441 at-bats without one.

Mark Teahen also hit a two-run homer for Kansas City.

Rick Porcello, making his third big league start, allowed five runs, four earned, and four hits in six innings for the Tigers.

Twins 5, Indians 1

CLEVELAND (AP) " Justin Morneau homered and Nick Blackburn pitched seven solid innings for the Minnesota Twins.

Morneau hit Indians starter Fausto Carmona's first pitch of the fourth into the seats in right to give the Twins a 2-1 lead, and also drove in a run with a fielder's choice in the seventh.

Three nights after drawing 11,408 fans " the lowest total in the history of the ballpark that opened in 1994 " Friday's game attracted 20,215. Many of them showed up for a postgame fireworks show.

Blackburn (1-1), winless in his first three starts, allowed one run and six hits while helping snap the Twins' four-game road losing streak.

Carmona (1-3) allowed five runs in six-plus innings for the Indians.

Rangers 5, Orioles 4

BALTIMORE (AP) " Michael Young hit a two-out, two-run homer off George Sherrill in the ninth inning, giving the Texas Rangers a comeback victory.

The Rangers trailed 4-1 in the fifth and missed a chance to take the lead in the eighth before Young hit a drive to right following a two-out single by Ian Kinsler. It was the third time in five games that Young tied or put the Rangers ahead with a late home run.

Hank Blalock also homered for the Rangers, and Brian Roberts hit his first for Baltimore.

Sherrill (0-1) struck out Chris Davis with the bases loaded in the eighth after Marlon Byrd hit an RBI single off Jim Johnson to make it 4-3. The left-hander then got the first two outs in the ninth before suffering his first blown save.

C.J. Wilson worked the eighth (1-2) and Frank Francisco got three straight outs for his third save.

Blue Jays 14, White Sox 0

CHICAGO (AP) " Adam Lind hit three doubles, Aaron Hill drove in three runs and the Toronto Blue Jays routed the Chicago White Sox.

Rod Barajas was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Jose Bautista homered in the ninth for Toronto, which has won seven of its last nine. Bautista's solo shot gave the Blue Jays a season-high 14 runs to go along with their season-best 21 hits.

Gavin Floyd (2-2), a 17-game winner last season, had his shortest outing since Aug. 5, 2008, against Detroit. He allowed six runs, five earned, in 4 1-3 innings. He also walked five, threw two wild pitches and struck out five.

With winds gusting up to 30 mph and plenty of run support, Brian Tallet (1-0) had little trouble with the White Sox lineup. He allowed four hits in 5 2-3 innings.

Mariners 8, Angels 3

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) " Russell Branyan homered in his return to the Seattle lineup, and the Mariners used a six-run fifth inning to beat the Los Angeles Angels.

Erik Bedard (2-1) allowed three runs " two earned " and five hits in 6 2-3 innings for Seattle.

Branyan, who missed the previous five games because of lower back spasms, gave the Mariners a 1-0 lead in the second inning with his third homer and added an RBI double in the sixth to make it 8-3.

Shane Loux (0-2) failed to retire any of the seven batters he faced in the fifth and was pulled after 84 pitches with the Angels trailing 5-0.
