RENO " A report by a nonprofit consumers group gives Reno-area hospitals mixed reviews on preventing surgical infection.

Renown Regional Medical Center, Renown South Meadows Medical Center and Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center were listed in the Consumer Union report as being among 445 hospitals across the country in "low compliance" of administering antibiotics before surgery.

Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center and Northern Nevada Medical Center were listed as having "high compliance" in administering antibiotics before surgery to prevent infection in patients.

Renown officials says the data used in the report is a year old and not reflective of current practices.
