PHILADELPHIA (AP) - J.A. Happ struck out a career-high 10 in his second shutout of the season, leading the Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night.

Jimmy Rollins, Jayson Werth and Pedro Feliz all homered.

Happ (8-2) tossed a four-hitter in his latest outstanding outing, making a strong argument to remain in Philadelphia's rotation. But it may not be enough for the rookie left-hander.

Three-time Cy Young Award winner Pedro Martinez threw six innings in a rehab start 65 miles away for Double-A Reading. If Phillies officials are convinced Martinez can start in the major leagues, he likely would send Happ to the bullpen.

Manager Charlie Manuel says it's still too early to talk about what the rotation will look like once Martinez joins the Phillies.

Jorge De La Rosa (9-8) allowed seven runs and 10 hits in five innings, ending his personal seven-game winning streak.

Giants 10, Astros 6

HOUSTON (AP) - Joe Martinez came off the disabled list to win his first major league start and Eli Whiteside hit a grand slam for his first career home run, leading San Francisco to the victory.

Martinez (2-0) pitched in the majors for the first time since he was struck in the head by a line drive from Milwaukee's Mike Cameron on April 9, his second outing of the season.

The 26-year-old rookie right-hander gave up three runs and seven hits in five innings.

Whiteside's slam gave the Giants a 7-3 lead in the sixth against Brian Moehler (7-7), who dropped to 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in his last three starts.

Hunter Pence hit a two-run homer for Houston, which has lost nine of 12.

Nationals 5, Marlins 4

WASHINGTON (AP) - Cristian Guzman fell a home run shy of the cycle, Adam Dunn homered in his third straight game and Washington tied a season high with its fourth straight win.

Ryan Zimmerman and Ronnie Belliard also connected for the Nationals, who improved to 10-6 under interim manager Jim Riggleman. Washington has won the first two games of this series after dropping the first nine meetings this year.

Dan Uggla hit a solo homer for the Marlins in the second inning and added a two-run single in the seventh. Rick VandenHurk (1-1) got the loss.

John Lannan (8-8) gave up two runs and eight hits in six innings for the Nationals. Mike MacDougal pitched the ninth for his 10th save.

Reds 4, Cubs 0

CINCINNATI (AP) - Scott Rolen returned from a beaning that left him sore and blurry for two days, then hit a two-run homer on his first swing to help Cincinnati snap an eight-game losing streak.

Justin Lehr (1-0) limited the Cubs to four hits in his first complete game. The 32-year-old Lehr was a reliever for Oakland and Milwaukee in 2004-06, and was making only his second start in the majors. It was his first win since May 18, 2006, with the Brewers.

The Reds got Rolen from Toronto in a four-player deal Friday, looking for leadership and a right-handed bat. He went 0 for 6 with Cincinnati before getting hit in the head by a Jason Marquis pitch on Sunday.

Cleared by a CT scan, Rolen's second-inning homer on the first pitch from Rich Harden (7-7) put the Reds on course for only their second victory in 16 games.

Mets 9, Cardinals 0

NEW YORK (AP) - Nelson Figueroa pitched 4 1-3 innings and boosted the offense with a two-run triple after Jonathon Niese got hurt, leading New York to the victory.

Angel Pagan hit his second homer in four games and had four RBIs, and David Wright also homered for the Mets. New York took a 5-0 lead in two innings against Kyle Lohse (4-7), finished with 15 hits and won for just the second time in seven games, completing a 5-5 homestand.

Niese tore his right hamstring in the second inning when he went to cover first and fell into the splits while trying to complete a double play. He then threw a practice pitch, grimaced and collapsed. He was assisted off the field by two trainers and taken to a hospital.

Figueroa (1-2) allowed four hits in his first major league win since Sept. 1 at Milwaukee. Bobby Parnell completed the six-hitter for his first career save in five opportunities. Braves 6, Padres 2

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Tommy Hanson pitched six solid innings to lead the Braves to the victory.

Atlanta's 14 hits were all singles. Nate McLouth and Chipper Jones had three apiece, and each Braves regular had at least one hit. The Braves won two of three and are probably sad to leave Petco Park. They tied their season high with 17 hits in a 9-2 win on Tuesday night.

San Diego's Kevin Kouzmanoff tied a team record by hitting into three double plays. Atlanta turned four overall.

Hanson (6-2) gave up two runs and five hits.

Will Venable hit his sixth homer overall and fifth in his last seven games for San Diego. Chad Gaudin (4-10) allowed six runs and nine hits in 3 1-3 innings.

Diamondbacks 4, Pirates 3

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Stephen Drew hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth inning and the streaking Diamondbacks rallied to get the victory.

Pinch-hitter Alex Romero also had a tying RBI single in the eighth for Arizona, which has won four in a row and six of seven. Ryan Roberts homered for the third time in two games.

Andy LaRoche and Garrett Jones went deep for the Pirates, who have dropped four in a row and nine of 11. Joel Hanrahan (1-4) got the loss.

Jones hit his team-best 11th homer off Chad Qualls to cut it to 4-3 with one out in the ninth. But Qualls got Steve Pearce to ground out and struck out LaRoche to pick up his 21st save in 25 opportunities.

Doug Davis (6-10) allowed two runs and four hits over seven innings to beat the Pirates for the second time in 11 days.

Brewers 4, Dodgers 1

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Braden Looper bounced back sharply after a couple of miserable outings, Prince Fielder had a tying RBI groundout a night after trying to enter the Dodgers' clubhouse to confront Guillermo Mota and Milwaukee beat Los Angeles to win its first series in over a month.

Looper (10-5) allowed a run and four hits over 6 2-3 innings and struck out four after giving up a leadoff homer in the first by Rafael Furcal.

Fielder was booed lustily by the crowd of 50,276 each time he came to bat after his tirade Tuesday night was caught on camera by a news crew. He went 0 for 5, driving in the tying run with a fielder's choice grounder in the third, and stole a base.

Trevor Hoffman pitched a scoreless ninth for his record 579th career save and 25th in 27 chances this season.

Jason Schmidt (2-2) was charged with four runs, five hits and three walks in 3 2-3 innings.
