130 YEARS AGO

On the 18th and 19th Miss Millie Christine, the double headed woman, and the dwarfs, Baron Littlefinger and Count Rosebud, will be on exhibition at Poore & Parker's Theater. Miss Millie is the greatest wonder that nature has ever produced, she has two well formed and intelligent heads. The heads appear to converse with each other well and find great pleasure in in each other's conversation.

100 YEARS AGO

One of the saddest instances of the insatiable fate that the desert holds for the unwary was last night when Deputy Sheriff Jack Marshall of Tonopah brought in Helen Rope, a cultured English girl, from Tonopah, suffering from insanity in a violent form from the effects of exposure in the desert sands near Luning. She had gone to the mountains with her brother to attend to a crude cabin until one day she heard the siren call of the shifting sands and set out with a small canteen and a burro (continued Wednesday).

70 YEARS AGO

A touring family from Oklahoma parked their well-loaded car in front of the Supreme Court while visiting the Capitol. As soon as the car parked, a small boy performed his task of exercising the pet animals accompanying the family. The lad and his menagerie were given a wide berth when passersby discovered a loose animal followed closely behind the bridle on a leash was - a real skunk!

50 YEARS AGO

Playing at the Carson Theater: "A Woman Obsessed" starring Susan Hayward, Steven Boyd, and "The Horse Soldiers" with John Wayne and William Holden. "They ride where only the great ones go ..."

20 YEARS AGO

Recent violence has prompted prison officials to ban the sale of typewriters because they pose a potential hazard for the use of parts as weapons.

A workshop to train volunteers on how to build hiking trails was held in efforts to boost trail use and educate trail riders on proper bike etiquette.
