For the third year in a row, Bauter & Holmes dental office is hosting a supply drive for local elementary schools.

"It was something we decided we wanted to do as a staff," said dental assistant Sue Kottke. "We wanted to be involved in the community."

Many of the employees are parents of school-aged children, she said, and it seemed a natural fit to help out the schools.

"It's been a wonderful turnout," she said. "People who aren't even patients drop stuff off at our office."

Kottke said community members have dropped off supplies including pens, pencils, tissues, hand sanitizer, crayons and paper.

"There's a little bit of everything," she said.

She said this year's donations have been down a bit, likely due to the poor economy. However, she's hoping to be able to fill a box of supplies to deliver to each of Carson City's six elementary schools.

Anyone wishing to donate can drop off items at the office, 525 W. Washington St., until Friday.
