Ballet, jazz, hip-hop classes offered

The Performing Arts Project is now accepting new student registration for fall dance classes in classical ballet, pointe, hip-hop, pre-dance, mommy & me, couples, tap, jazz and tumbling.

Register on from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, or from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Cut-a-thon to benefit Dayton High band

Tru Hair Salon, located at 244 Dayton Valley Road in the River Vista Commercial Center in Dayton, will host a cut-a-thon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 30.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Dayton High School Band as it raises money for needed uniforms.

The Dayton High School Band was the only school band in the 2008 Nevada Day Parade without uniforms.

The uniforms have been ordered, but funds still are needed.

Elks participate in National Night Out

Carson City Elk's Lodge No. 2177 participated in "National Night Out" sponsored Aug. 4 by the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

This community event showcased public safety and numerous services, including drug awareness, that are available to the public.

The Carson City Elks handed out more than 3,200 brochures on drug awareness reaching approximately 300 Carson City youths.

The overall event was attended by 3,000 parents, and children.

Fund-raiser to benefit Elk's projects

Carson City Elk's Lodge #2177 will offer hamburgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, and again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, South Carson Street, Carson City.

Proceeds benefit Elk's charitable projects.
