Reid sets town hall meeting next week

Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., has scheduled a telephone town hall meeting for August 28.

Reid said the phone-in meeting is for small business owners, healthcare providers, seniors and any other Nevadans interested in health insurance reform.

"Not only does this format allow us to reach far more people all over the state than a single town hall, it also provides a respectful environment where all sides can be heard," he said.

The system works by dialing thousands of homes in Nevada just before the event and allowing them to join the discussion. Reid said, however, he will also give people the opportunity to add their phone number to the call list.
