NEW YORK (AP) - Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning to give New York a 5-2 victory over Chicago on Friday night.

Cano hit a 2-2 pitch from Randy Williams (0-1) into New York's bullpen in right-center. Williams retired the first two batters he faced before walking both Hideki Matsui and Nick Swisher on four pitches to set up Cano's first game-ending homer.

Brian Bruney (4-0) worked a perfect 10th inning for the win.

Derek Jeter hit his second leadoff homer this week and Johnny Damon also connected for AL East-leading New York, which left nine runners on.

Mark Buehrle pitched six effective innings for the White Sox but remained winless in seven starts since his perfect game against Tampa Bay on July 23. Chicago has lost five of six to fall five games behind AL Central-leading Detroit.

Alex Rios of the White Sox doubled in a run and Gordon Beckham lined a two-out RBI single in the seventh to tie it at 2.

Red Sox 6, Blue Jays 5

BOSTON (AP) - J.D. Drew had two hits, including an eighth-inning double that put David Ortiz in position to score the tiebreaking run, and Boston rallied from two deficits to beat Toronto.

The Blue Jays led 3-0 and 5-3 on two more home runs off Red Sox starter Josh Beckett - that makes 12 homers in his last four starts.

It was 5-all when Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek blocked the plate and tagged out Travis Snider just before a 49-minute rain delay in the top of the eighth. When play resumed, Hideki Okajima (5-0) got Aaron Hill - the only batter he faced - on a fly ball to right to end the eighth.

Brian Tallet (5-8) walked Ortiz - his only batter - to lead off the eighth, then Drew doubled one out later to put runners on second and third. After an intentional walk, pinch-hitter Casey Kotchman hit a fielder's choice grounder to make it 6-5.

Jonathan Papelbon pitched the ninth for his 31st save.

Angels 11, Athletics 7

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Kendry Morales went 5 for 5 with two homers and six RBIs, and Los Angeles scored seven runs in the seventh inning.

The Angels, who increased their AL West lead to five games over Texas, acquired two-time All-Star Scott Kazmir from Tampa Bay for two minor leaguers and a player to be named.

Morales, who tied a career high for RBIs, put Los Angeles ahead with a three-run homer in the seventh. He opened the scoring in the second with a solo homer against Brett Tomko.

Morales doubled in his next two at-bats and added his 29th homer against Brad Ziegler (1-4) to break Chili Davis' 1996 club record for the most homers in a season by a switch-hitter. He added an RBI single in the eighth.

All seven runs in the seventh were unearned, the result of first baseman Daric Barton's fielding error on a broken-bat grounder by Bobby Abreu.

Jose Arredondo (2-3) pitched two innings of one-hit relief for the victory after inheriting a 6-1 deficit. Brian Fuentes got two outs for his major league-leading 37th save.

Tigers 6, Rays 2

DETROIT (AP) - Brandon Inge homered and scored twice for Detroit.

After the game, the Rays announced they traded two-time All-Star Scott Kazmir to the Los Angeles Angels for left-hander Alex Torres and infielder Matt Sweeney.

Rookie Rick Porcello (11-8) won for the first time since Aug. 6, allowing one run and four hits in 5 2-3 innings. Four relievers combined to finish the six-hitter.

Matt Garza (7-9) took the loss, giving up six runs and five hits in five innings.

Detroit took a 1-0 lead on Inge's 25th homer in the second, then took control with five runs in the fourth.

Twins 3, Rangers 2

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Rookie Brian Duensing struck out eight in seven innings in his third career start to lead Minnesota.

Duensing (2-1) allowed three hits and walked one for the Twins, who have won eight of their last 10 games.

Tommy Hunter (6-3) gave up three runs and seven hits in seven innings for the Rangers, who got an RBI-double from David Murphy in the ninth and had the tying run on second base.

But Joe Nathan got Chris Davis looking on a close call for his 33rd save.

Twins catcher Joe Mauer had a run-scoring single and then made a key play when he threw out Elvis Andrus trying to steal second base in the eighth.

Michael Young of the Rangers extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the sixth inning.

Orioles 13, Indians 4

BALTIMORE (AP) - Rookie Matt Wieters had three hits and a career-high four RBIs, and Nick Markakis and Felix Pie homered for Baltimore.

Luke Scott scored three runs for the Orioles, who improved to 13-28 since the All-Star break. Baltimore trailed 2-0 in the second before scoring six runs over a four-inning stretch against Fausto Carmona (3-9).

Jason Berken (4-11) won his second straight start, allowing two runs, five hits and three walks in five innings. The rookie twice worked out of bases-loaded jams by retiring Luis Valbuena on fly balls.

Matt LaPorta homered for the Indians, who stranded 13 and went 2 for 14 with runners in scoring position.

Mariners 6, Royals 3

SEATTLE (AP) - Reserve shortstop Josh Wilson had his first three-RBI game in more than two years, and former Royals All-Star Mike Sweeney burned his old team with a hustle play.

Mariners ace Felix Hernandez (13-5) allowed five hits and three runs in seven innings. He walked one and struck out six in his first win since Aug. 1, following three no-decisions and a loss.

David Aardsma allowed a leadoff single in the ninth before finishing for his 31st save.

Brian Bannister (7-11) lost his fourth consecutive decision, allowing seven hits and six runs - five earned - in 6 2-3 innings.

Kyle Farnsworth walked Sweeney with the bases loaded to give Seattle a 6-3 lead in the seventh.
