130 YEARS AGO

There was considerable trouble yesterday on the V&T when a train ditched and two engines derailed near the Scales, four miles from Virginia City. The accident caused by the carelessness of a switchman. No Virginia papers reached Carson yesterday. A wrecking train was at work all day.

100 YEARS AGO

Today a V& T train struck a (Chinese) man by the name of Yip Poy, killing him instantly. Yip Poy, 62, also known as "Deafy", was crossing the tracks in Minden when struck by the train. The engineer saw the man on the tracks, applied the brakes, but was unable to stop.

70 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Alan Bible have returned from their honeymoon trip to the Pacific Coast and are now occupying their home on West King Street in Carson.

50 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Blake Fendrich of Carson City are the proud parents of a boy at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He has been named Gregory Matthew.

20 YEARS AGO

A group of employees at Bruce Industry employees in Dayton are protesting the Bureau of Land Management's plan to move a band of wild horses to Palomino Valley.

10 YEARS AGO

The owner of the Highway 50 Wrecking Yard says he's making changes to improve the look of the business. The junkyard has been fronting Highway 50 since the 1950s.
