Carson man jailed in assault on teen

A Carson City man was jailed Thursday night after he allegedly assaulted a rival teenage gang member outside an East Carson grocery store.

Michael James Delucchi, 28 and unemployed, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony strong-armed robbery and misdemeanor battery.

According to the arrest report, at about 3 p.m. Delucchi spotted a 16-year-old wearing a purple shirt which represented the teen's gang outside the Save Mart on Highway 50 East.

Delucchi, a suspected member of a rival gang, allegedly pushed the juvenile into a wall and began beating him, saying "this is what happens to wannabe gang members," the report states. Delucchi then allegedly took the teen's jacket, purple

T-shirt and $20.

Employees from the store intervened, the report states.

"An employee demanded the suspect return the victim's jacket as it was winter and too cold. The suspect stated he would give back the jacket, but he was keeping the purple shirt," the police report states.

Delucchi then left with the shirt and $20 in a vehicle with a woman and two children, the report states.

The incident was caught on tape.

When a gang officer viewed the footage, he allegedly identified Delucchi as the suspect and contacted him at his home on Airport Road.

Delucchi allegedly claimed the 16-year-old was responsible for busting out his windows with rocks and when he saw him at the store, the teen "smirked" at him. Delucchi was arrested at 8:50 p.m.
