130 YEARS AGO

On Sunday afternoon there was a locomotive collision on the V&T R. R. near the end of the north tunnel by the Yellow Jacket Mine in Gold Hill. The collision occurred just at the bend of the track east of the second tunnel, where neither engineer could see far ahead. On inspection, the cowcatcher was turned up and bent so as to crush the headlight.

100 YEARS AGO

A remedy for the muddy and slushy streets is being sought by the city trustees. The city is hoping to have a macadamized street from the railroad depot to Meyer store. Some have suggested cement sewers be placed across the street instead of the current stone and wood ones in use. Carson City should have at least one street that is passable and not a disgrace to the city.

70 YEARS AGO

Nevada farm sales for the 11 months ending in November have doubled 1938 sales according to the Federal Land Bank of Berkeley. Twenty-two farms were sold compared to 11 last year.

50 YEARS AGO

Motorists will receive their annual Christmas present early - by getting free parking to benefit downtown shoppers. Customers are asked to not take advantage of free parking and use a meter space all day.

20 YEARS AGO

Commuters can now go to Tahoe by bus following service announced by the Carson City bus depot.

10 YEARS AGO

Results of the annual 1999 4-H awards winners are announced. The winners are too numerous to mention.
