RENO (AP) - University of Nevada, faculty and staff are being urged to come with ideas on how to meet possible 10 percent budget cuts.

Faculty and staff representatives on Wednesday distributed an e-mail sent earlier by Gov. Jim Gibbons to all state employees, seeking their input on how to cut spending in light of an increasing budget deficit.

Gibbons asked employees to submit their ideas by Jan. 4.

The governor also has asked the Economic Forum for new revenue projections, and is considering whether a special legislative session is needed to address the state's budget problems.

Last week, UNR President Milton Glick told administrators and deans to refrain from making any formal plans for budget cuts until he receives direction from the Board of Regents.
