Police are looking for a 43-year-old woman they say emptied a Carson City teacher's bank account of more than $7,000.

Joreen George allegedly got the Mark Twain Elementary School teacher's purse, including identification, checks, credit cards and an ATM card in December, according to Detective Bob Motamenpour of the Carson City Sheriff's Department.

A fourth-grade student took the purse from the teacher, he said.

George allegedly has used the teacher's personal and bank information to cash checks and buy items at grocery stores in Carson City and Washoe County, he said.

George also allegedly stole $500 using checks and identification from a woman in Dayton, Motamenpour said.

Police declined to name either of the women.

George allegedly cashed a fraudulent check a few weeks ago at the Carson Nugget, Motamenpour said.

She has been arrested before for crimes including forgery and larceny, he said.

Police ask anyone with information about George to call Motamenpour at 887-2020, ext. 41406.
