Elaine M. Dale died unexpectedly Dec. 19, 2008, in Carson City. Elaine was born June 7, 1925, in San Pablo, California, the only child of Edgar W. Dale and Florence M. Dale, both of whom preceded her in death.

Elaine graduated from Richmond High School, Richmond, Calif., and the University of California at Berkeley. She taught English and history at Richmond High School and Pinole Valley High School. After retirement, Elaine moved to Carson City, where she started a second career as a realtor. Elaine was active in the Carson City community and in St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Natives and Newcomers, St. Teresa's Guild, Carson City Republican Women, Carson City Chamber of Commerce, as well as the World Trade Center in San Francisco. Elaine was well known for her generosity and great kindness to all who knew her. Her keen intellect, wonderful parties, and great sense of humor will be remembered and missed by all who came in contact with her. Elaine valued her many friends and considered them her extended family. She also shared her life and affection with her beloved poodles.

She is survived by cousins, Margie Meeth of Reno, and Ruth Texeira of Pinole, Calif., countless friends, and her much loved poodle, Mighty.

A rosary will be recited 4:30 p.m., Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop Street, Carson City. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 3000 N. Lompa Lane, Carson City, with a luncheon immediately following in the Church hall. A private entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in San Pablo, Calif. Memorial gifts in Elaine's name may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church or to a charity of your choice.
