January 6, 1879 " the Ninth Session of the Nevada Legislature begins with the death of Assemblyman Wash. This is the first death of a member of the Legislature that has ever taken place in this State during the Legislative session ... so that there has never been any occurrence coming to remind the legislature of the appropriateness of adopting measures for securing and owning a burial ground, within a reasonable distance from the Capitol, which should be known as a Legislative cemetery.
