A preliminary hearing has been set for Jan. 16 for a Nevada man picked up on a Carson City warrant as he re-entered the country from Canada.

Benedict Stefan LeVal, 26, is being held on $50,000 bail in the Carson City Jail. He waived extradition from Whatcom, Wash., and was returned to Carson on Dec. 31.

LeVal was arrested Dec. 20 as he and his 3-year-old son re-entered the United States

from Canada.

He is charged with suspicion of felony statutory sexual seduction and lewdness with a child under 14 for allegedly seducing the daughter of a friend in November 2007.

LeVal is thought to have fled Carson City after detectives called him for an interview.

His brother, Micah Leval, convicted of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to use a minor to produce pornography, served a 60-day sentence in jail, then was supposed to serve a sentence of probation, but allegedly fled the area in September. He still is being sought.
