The third annual Carson High School Alumni Game is scheduled for next Tuesday, Jan. 20. The girls' game starts at 5:15 p.m. and the boys will play at 7 p.m. There will be exciting events occurring honoring CHS alumni. We hope to see you all there wearing your CHS attire.

The CHS Spanish IV students have been working hard to create story books in Spanish for children ages 4-6. They have worked very hard and plan on sending them to district elementary schools.

In order to save money, as we face budget cuts, CHS will no longer mail the newsletter to CHS families. To view the newsletter online, log onto our Web site at www.carsonhigh.com and click on current newsletter. Printed copies are available from the students' English teachers and the attendance office.

Spring Sports Clearance night will be Monday, Feb. 9, 6-7:30 p.m. in the north foyer. Those athletes that have not participated in a sport for the 2008-2009 season need to bring in a completed sport packet, including proof of a physical, which is required every two years. Packets can be printed from the Carson High Web site at www.carsonhigh.com

Returning athletes can sign up with their coach during this time. Coaches will be available with tryout times and practice schedules. Track will be taking uniform sizes after sign-ups. Packets will not be accepted before this date; dropped off packets will be returned. The final deadline for sign-ups is Friday, Feb. 20. If you are unable to attend, call the athletic office at 283-1900 for the date assigned to that particular sport.

The Carson High School Senior Projects will be presented April 30 and May 1. Invitations to community volunteers who have participated in the past will be mailed in February. If you would like to be added to our list of participants, contact Darlene Nevin at 283-1945 or by e-mail at dnevin@carson.k12.nv.us.

The CHS Advanced Drama class will be performing a beautiful stage play with music called "John Brown's Body." The story is of a dark time in American history full of war, death and slavery. This drama is not to be missed. Directed by Karen Chandler, the CHS Chamber Singers lends their vocal talents to this production for a moving evening of American history.

Tickets are available at the door. Show dates are Jan. 16-17 and 23-25. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Please come support the arts!
