Vega reflects on soccer and her future

(Carson High School senior forward Brandi Vega set a state record with 77 goals for the Senators' soccer team. She has given a verbal commitment to play for Washington State. Vega also is a point guard for the CHS basketball team.)

MH: Who is the most fun to be around on the basketball team?

BV: Gina Bianchi and Yvonne Hollett. They always have a good time and always make me laugh.

MH: Of your 77 goals, which was the most memorable?

BV: Probably my record-goal on Senior Night against Galena. I was relieved. When I did it, I was done for. I thought, "Now I can just play." If you have a record on your back, it's a big relief (to get it).

MH: (Sky Blue FC and U.S. national women's team forward) Natasha Kai is (fill in the blank).

BV: She's one of the best forwards today. She's competitive. She gets the whole team hyped and excited to play. She's full of energy.

MH: (Blank) is so hot.

BV: I'd say (Milan midfielder) David Beckham is so hot. (Laughs). He has a nice body.

MH: As quiet as it's kept, I " (fill in the blank.)

BV: I love to dance to any kind of music. I'm not an expert, but I'm not terrible.

MH: If you could change places with one celebrity for a day, who would it be?

BV: I'd have to change places with Miley Cyrus. She's young, she's fun, she's rich and famous, and she's 16.

MH: If you could watch one movie right now, which one would it be?

BV: I would say "Love and Basketball" (with Omar Epps). It's been my favorite movie since I was young. I love the whole story line.

MH: If you could have written one song, which one would it be?

BV: Probably "White Horse" by Taylor Swift. I just like the whole song. I love her. She's a great artist.

MH: So you are riding on a subway and you're sitting next to David Beckham. What do you say?

BV: Goodness. I'd say, "Oh my goodness" (laughs). I'd say, "Do you think you could teach me to bend it like Beckham?"

MH: When I stress out I " (fill in the blank).

BV: When I stress, I usually like to listen to music and be by myself.

MH: When I'm 40 "

BV: I hope to be living in Spain, be married and have kids.

MH: Fast-forward or rewind?

BV: Rewind. I would change my freshman year state championship game. I'd have us winning 3-2 instead of Galena winning.

MH: Timeout or Parting Shot?

BV: Parting Shot. People need to get it out of their minds that girls can't play sports.
