Orval L. McFadyen passed away Jan. 22, 2009 in Carson City at age 93. He was a long time resident of Klamath Falls, Ore. He worked in the sawmills during his younger years and then changed careers and started up Orv's Super Shell at the corner of East Main and South 6th street in Klamath Falls. He later sold the business and managed the Auto Center for J.C Penney Company before his retirement in 1980. He moved with his wife Gertrude to Carson City to be closer to family. He was a resident of Carson City for the past 15 years.

In his younger years he was an avid bowler and loved to work on cars. His pride and joy was a Chevy Luv pickup, which he was still working on when he passed away. He loved to duck hunt in his younger days. He loved to visit the Oregon Coast, eat fried oysters and visit with family in Boise.

He was a World War II veteran who served as a Master Sergeant in the 330th Bomb Group in El Paso, Texas. During his service he was a B29 mechanic. He met his wife Gertrude in Klamath Falls in 1941 as she was coming out of the Sears store and they knew they were meant for each other. They were married in 1942 in Boise, Idaho and didn't see each other for a year because of the war. They had a loving 67 years together before he passed away.

He believed in God and is with him today. He will be missed by a loving family. He was an inspiration to all who knew him, especially his grandkids who all looked up to him as a role model of gentle kindness, sense of humor and above all his gentlemanly ways.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude McFadyen of Carson City, son Michael McFadyen and wife Teresa of Boise, Idaho, and daughter Carol Veatch and husband Michael of Carson City. He had four loving grandchildren David McFadyen, Jonathan McFadyen, Andrea Gross of Boise, Idaho and Steven Veatch of Carson City; five great-grandchildren; Isaac and Ryan Gross, Dylan and Gracie McFadyen of Boise, Idaho and Logan Veatch of Carson City and nephew Bill McFadyen and wife Betty of San Bernadino, Calif. along with numerous relations in Redding, Calif.

A family service and internment will be held in Klamath Falls.
