Round and round spun the rides at the RSVP carnival in Mills Park as families celebrated the Fourth of July with dizzying fun, food and laughter.

Up and up shot the fireworks Saturday night in a kaleidoscope of colors in the skies over Carson City to oohs and ahs of dazzled spectators.

Around town, adults toasted their independence at the Downtown Wine Walk and rock 'n' rolled to sounds of the '80s at the Gold Dust West outdoor concert.

The tunes of patriotism marched through Genoa at the Pops in the Park concert, inspiring music lovers on the grassy lawn in Mormon Station State Park. While up the hill in Virginia City, bands, horses and dignitaries in decked-out cars paraded down the historic streets to the cheers of families lining the historic wooden sidewalks.

So Carson City and its neighbors celebrated the 233rd birthday of the United States of America and looked ahead to another year of liberty.
