A search for a missing 6-year-old Reno boy who is presumed drowned at Lake Lahontan was scaled back Sunday evening by law enforcement agencies. In a statement released by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, all resources available to the LCSO had been used with negative results.
"Therefore, the search was scaled back to regular boat and shore patrols, which will continue for the foreseen future," said Lt. Robin D. Hall in the release.
The LCSO - along with Washoe County search and rescue units, Nevada State Parks, the Nevada Department of Wildlife and other agencies - searched all day for Apollo Fuller, who was reported missing Saturday afternoon.
Based on witness statements, Hall said it is believed Fuller went into the lake. As a result of those statements, the search was focused in the water. Divers and side-looking sonar were used Sunday until 7:30 p.m.
Earlier in the day, Undersheriff Joe Sanford said searchers also spent some time combing the desert around Beach 3 on the Silver Springs side of Lake Lahontan.
At the time of his disappearance, Fuller was wearing a blue swimsuit with a white stripe. Fuller is white with blonde hair and green eyes. He also has a small scar on his right cheek.
