Seven hundred water citations were issued this season for either water wasting or watering on the wrong day. The city's water system is working well. During the height of hot temperatures in the past, the water system would drop to within an inch of being depleted.

Gas prices are up 11 cents in one month. "The recent upturn in pump prices reflects tight gasoline supplies on the West Coast," according to AAA spokesman Paul Moreno. In Carson City the average price was $1.28 per gallon for unleaded and in Reno was $1.58, up 13 cents per gallon. Oil is a $8 a barrel.
