Farmers' markets begin opening for season

The long winter's drought of fresh-from-the-farm produce is coming to end.

Farmers' markets in Carson Valley open this week.

In Carson City, the Pony-Express Pavilion market opens next week, followed by the downtown farmers market later this month.

Carson City-area farmers markets:

- Lampe Park Farmers' Market, 1325 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville. Wednesdays beginning today, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 782-9828.

- Esmeralda Farmers' Market on Esmeralda street in downtown Minden. Now open on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Call 782-2444.

- Carson-Pony Express Pavilion Farmers' Market, Wednesday afternoons, 3-7 p.m., June 10 through Sept. 2. Mills Park, 1111 E. William St. Call 746-5024.

- Saturday Morning Farmers' Market, Third and Curry streets, Carson City. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Starts June 27 through October. Call 887-2101.
