Historic preservation award given to Dayton resident

Nevada's Historic Preservation Office has issued its annual Historic Preservation Awards.

Historic Preservation officer Ron James said the awards recognize the work that individuals and organizations have done to help preserve Nevada's heritage.

Robert Milz of Dayton, a former Lyon County Commissioner, was honored for 12 years service on the Comstock Historic District Commission. He was involved in the Silver City School reconstruction and the Dayton C&C Depot along with rehabilitation of the old Dayton High School.

Joanne and Don Murray of Sparks were honored for their extensive volunteer work with the Nevada Rock Art Foundation and Archaeological Site Stewardship program.

Don Hendricks of Las Vegas was honored for his volunteerism with the Nevada Archaeological Site Stewardship program and the Pahrump Valley Museum.

Finally, the Bureau of Reclamation in Boulder City was honored for rehabilitating elements of the Hoover Dam Exhibit Building.
