Rainy and breezy for Carson City today

Weather for the Carson City area today will be have a wind advisory in effect until 4 p.m. with scattered showers. Rain and snow in likely in the evening with isolated thunderstorms. Snow level 6500 to 7000 feet with accumulation up to 2 inches. Highs 51-61 with south winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

Tonight, brisk with rain and snow in the evening with snow likely after midnight. Snow level 6000 feet lowering to the valley floor with accumulation up to 3 inches above 5000 feet. Lows 24-34 with southwest winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

Tuesday, breezy with snow and rain likely with snow level near the valley floor and accumulation up to 3 inches. Highs 40-50 with southwest winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 6:01 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for 4-wheel drive vehicles for 13.3 miles between Kingvale Exit and Central Truckee exit, Calif.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 11.2 miles between 3 miles north of SR 28 and 10.3 miles south of junction Highway 395.

Utility work continues on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
