Carson City police are looking for a man and woman who allegedly set up a meeting with a Craigslist seller, then battered the seller and stole a laptop battery.

According to Carson Sheriff's Deputy Thomas McDonald, Steven Moyer, 21, sold a laptop on Craigslist about two weeks ago for $175.

The buyer, who told Moyer he was from Reno, allegedly picked up the laptop with the understanding that the battery didn't work, and agreed to buy another battery from Moyer.

Moyer said he attempted to contact the buyer later about the battery but couldn't reach him.

McDonald said Moyer decided to sell the battery on Craigslist and was contacted by a woman who agreed to meet him Thursday at the Straw Hat Pizza in South Carson. When Moyer was inside the restaurant talking to the woman, the buyer of the laptop appeared and "blindsided" him, said McDonald.

The woman put the battery in her purse and the two allegedly fled in a white Ford Windstar-type minivan, he said.

Moyer suffered lacerations to his head and face from being punched and slammed into a door, said McDonald.

He said messages left on the cell numbers from which both the man and woman contacted Moyer have gone unreturned.
