HENDERSON " Police say officers shot a man dead in the emergency room of a southern Nevada hospital after he brandished a gun and threatened suicide.
No other injuries were reported after the incident about 1 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose Dominican Hospital.
Police say that about the same time the man entered the hospital in Henderson, family members in nearby Las Vegas notified police he was suicidal.
No word yet on the dead man's name.
A patient in a curtained treatment bay tells KLAS-TV he heard a man announce he was going to kill himself and then heard a woman shout for everyone to get down before several shots were fired.
The officers are on paid leave pending a review of the shooting.
