One local restaurant is trying to get creative on how to help local charities and drum up business at the same time.

B'Sghetti's in downtown Carson City is launching a new fundraising program for groups trying to support their causes.

Here's how it works. B'Sghetti's invites groups to talk to one of their managers to schedule events. The restaurant then supplies the groups with pre-printed flyers so they can publicize their events.

When the people who have received the flyers come to the restaurant for the event, 10 percent of the money they spend in the restaurant (excluding taxes) goes to the group.

"It no longer seems a silent auction is enough," said owner Scott Doerr. "These groups need cash to operate."

Doerr said the program was created by General Manager Steve Norton, and is an effort to benefit local charities in a better way, and keep more local dollars in Carson City.

"The most important part is that we are able to help, and have an immediate impact," Doerr said.

Those interested in the program can call 887-8879 for more information.
