Jewelry making class offered at BAC

Brewery Arts Center offers a two day beginning jewelry making class, 5-7 p.m., Thursday, April 2 and April 9. Instruction in the practice of wire wrapping, using wire and beads will be given in this new class. The class is suitable for ages teen to adult. ESL in-Home Program needs volunteers

The ESL in-Home Program is seeking volunteers. Training takes one hour at your convenience at no charge. All necessary instructional materials are provided. No experience is necessary. There are over 100 non-English speaking potential students on a waiting list who live in Carson City, Gardnerville, Minden, Reno, Sparks and Dayton. It is not required to have a knowledge of a foreign language to teach English. Training in the Laubach method takes one hour at no charge. For information, call 888-2021.

WNC has openings for Pre-K classrooms

Western Nevada College Carson Campus has openings in their full-time and part-time Pre-K classrooms for children ages 3-6. The Center is open 7 a.m.-5:45 p.m., Monday-Friday; year round with the exception of State of Nevada holidays. The classrooms are open to the public. For information, call 445-4265 or 445-4262.

Sign up for legal secretary seminar

The National Association of Legal Secretaries will host the third legal survivor course, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday, May 1, Gold Dust West Casino Hotel, 2171 Highway 50 East. Course fee is $96 if postmarked by April 10 and $116 after April 10. CLE credits available. This one-day legal seminar is designed to give all legal support staff a "survivor course" on working with the Nevada Supreme Court, Discovery Rules, Law Office Ethics, Liens, Probate Court Updates and improving grammar skills. Silver Springs

Free tax preparation offered to seniors

AARP will offer free tax preparation for seniors. Taxpayers wanting their taxes prepared and electronically filed for free do not have to be AARP members or any specific minimum age. Now through April 15 representatives will be at the Silver Springs Senior Center, 2795 Fort Churchill Road, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday. Appointments are required.
