Fatal Calif. glider crash investigated; 2 from Colo. die

DENVER " Investigators are trying to determine what caused a motorized glider to crash northeast of Mammoth Lakes in California, killing two people from Canon City, Colo.

Mono County, Calif., sheriff's officials say 67-year-old Allan Raymond Melendy and 63-year-old Mary Elizabeth Hayden were headed from Tonopah, Nev., to Modesto, Calif., on April 24 when their aircraft was reported missing.

An Air Force Pavehawk helicopter crew from Nellis Air Force Base spotted the wreckage Friday.
