Emma M. Kelly, who was employed in the family of Mr. O. P. Willis, committed suicide with the aid of chloroform. She had been an inmate of the Orphans Home, but was recently taken into the family where she died. She was one of a family of five children who were locked up in a cabin by a beast of a father in Elko County, who left them there to die. The deceased child left the following letter: "I am quite tired of leading such a life. Dear little brothers; you must not think of me, but do the best you can with this life. I think, we shall meet in a better place than this. Be good little boys, and God will keep you."

Biggest basketball contest ever seen in the state " Everybody and all their relatives are going to witness the basketball contest which takes place at the Athletic club. Miss Josie Roberts has been chosen referee. The following comprise the Carson team: Miss Louise Woodbury, captain; Misses Annie Kitzmeyer, Lucy Davis, Ethel Hofer, Hazel Hofer, Edith Jones, Clara Crisler, Flora Pohl and Mrs. Emma Painter. The girls had a practice game and played with splendid dash and skill from start to finish.
