Sheriff hosts safe streets street party today

The Carson Sheriff's Department sixth annual Open House and Cops 'n Kids Safe Streets Street Party is today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free.

The public is invited to tour the sheriff's offices at 911 E. Musser St. and mingle with Miss Douglas County, Miss Nevada, actors from the Wild Horse Children's Theater and Carson City officers.

Activities for the children include games and prizes, bubbles, a bounce house, face painting and puppets. There also will be free food, beverages and music.

The Carson City Sheriff's Explorers also will be holding a fundraiser.

Carson City Sheriff's Office will close Musser Street from Pratt and Musser to Harbin and Musser and one-third block of Harbin Street 10 a.m.-

4 p.m., for the party.
