SAN JOSE " The University of Nevada (25-27, 10-11 WAC) baseball team dropped a doubleheader to San Jose State, 4-2 and 5-1 Saturday at Municipal Stadium.

The loss leaves the Wolf Pack to 25-28 on the season and 10-12 in WAC play while the Spartans improved to 38-18 and 14-7 in conference play.

SJSU has captured the regular season WAC title, and will be the top seed entering the WAC Tournament which starts Thursday.

SJSU scored three runs on three hits in the top of the second inning to take the early 3-0 lead.

Center fielder Jason Martin drove in two of the runs with his two-out doubled down the left field line.

The Pack scored a pair of runs in the top of third on first baseman Shaun Kort's two-RBI double down the left field line.

Kort's double scored shortstop Kevin Rodland and left fielder Matt Bowman after they started the inning with back-to-back singles.

The Spartans scored an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning when third baseman Corey Valine doubled and eventually scored on first baseman Danny Stienstra's sacrifice fly to make the final score 4-2.

Pack starter Chris Garcia (4-6) pitched well allowing four runs on 10 hits in seven innings on the mound with two strikeouts.

Five Pack players had a hit in the game and Kort drove home both Nevada runs in the game.

SJSU got a two-out solo home run from shortstop Kyle Bellows in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead that they would not relinquish.

The Spartans scored four times in the bottom of the third inning to go in front 5-0. Third baseman Corey Valine's single plated two of the runs in the big inning.

The Pack's lone run came on second baseman Joe Kohan's solo home run in the top of the fifth inning which made the final score 5-1.
