Carson Middle School Girls excel at Tah-Neva track meet

Area schools fared well at last week's annual Tah-Neva Track & Field Championships at Carson High School.

Carson Middle School won the seventh grade girls championship and the eighth grade girls championship, scoring 161 and 178 points respectively. South Lake Tahoe was second in 7th grade girls with 81.5 points, while Carson Valley Middle School tallied 137 points in 8th grade girls.

Carson Valley Middle School boys won the 7th grade title with 100.25 points, while Pau-Wa-Lu was second with 100 points. Eagle Valley won the 8th grade boys title with 116 points, while Carson Middle School was second with 107.

Josilyn Daggs of Carson Middle School won the 200 (27.40), won the 75-meter hurdles (12.48) and finished second in the 100 (13.15). Alexandra Drozdoff won the 3,200 in 13:20.91 and took third in the 800 (2:53.10). Sahara Winder, also of CMS, won the 400 in 63.90, Julia Brown won the triple jump at 26-11 and Becca Matley finished second in the 75-meter hurdles (13.01) and the 200 hurdles (34.00). Cindy Juchtzer placed second in the 3200 in 14:27 and second in the 800 (2:48.37). Carson Middle also won the 400 and 1600 relay in the 7th grade girls division.

Kelly Sonnemann won the shot put and discus for Carson Valley Middle School with marks of 31-3 and 82-7, respectively. Mattie Seamans of Pau-Wa-Lu won the 1,600 in 6:11 while Eagle Valley's Savannah Smith won the high jump with a mark of 4-6.

In eighth grade girls, Carson Middle School's Kenzie Tillit won the 200 hurdles (29.76), was third in the high jump (4-9) and won the long jump with a mark of 15-feet 1/2-inch.

McKenzie Price, also of CMS, was third in the triple jump with an effort of 26-4 3/4. Morgan Karnofel led Pau-Wa-Lu to a third-place finish with a first place in the 100 (13.3) and a second in the 200 (27.58). Aspen Abbott won the 400 (64.78) and the triple jump (31-2 1/2). She also was second in the long jump with a mark of 14-2 1/2.

Carson Valley was led by Diane Regalado, who won the shot put with a mark of 34-8 1/2. Lauren Babbitt won the high jump at 4-9, Katelin Didero won the 3200 in 15:28.03 and Carson Valley won the 400 relay in 54.80.

The Eagle Valley 8th grade girls were led by Savannah Dennis, who won the 800 in 2:41.07 and Courtney Hack, who won the discus with a throw of 72 feet 11 inches.

Todd Thomsen won three events " long jump in 16-4; the 200 in 25.0 and the 100 in 11.97 " to lead the Eagle Valley Middle School's 7th grade boys squad.

Carson Middle School's Andy Cooper won the shot (40-10) and discus (100-7), while KC. Meyer won the high jump at 5-4.

Carson Valley's Gio hernandez won the 200 hurdles (29.30) and took second in the 200 (26.57). Daniel Lampson took a second in the 1600 (5:53) and third in the 800 (2:38.25).

Matt Nolan was the key figure in Eagle Valley's road to the boys' 8th-grade title. He was second in the 100 (11.86), second in the 400 (59.34) and third in the 200 (25.54). Nathan Hazard won the discus with a throw of 130-1. Jacob McClelland was third in the 800 (2:31.90) and second in the shot (40-8).
