The first swine flu case in a Carson City adult has been confirmed.

The 22-year-old adult is home receiving treatment, said City Health Director Marena Works. The adult has not been hospitalized, she said.

This is the fourth case of the H1N1 virus in Carson City. The first two cases in minors were confirmed May 6.

A child not old enough to be in school was hospitalized with the virus last week. The child has been released from the hospital, Works said.

The swine flu virus in the adult was confirmed Tuesday, Works said.

"(The adult) is doing well really," she said. "It's a pretty mild case."

Works did not give the name, age or sex of the adult.

The symptoms of the swine flu are similar to regular seasonal flu.

Nevada has 84 confirmed cases of swine flu. No deaths in the state have been reported from the virus.
