Senator Square:Carson High works to conserve energy

CHS does its part in helping to save the environment with its recycling program. Students and teachers are encouraged to recycle plastics, aluminum and paper.

As well, we are conserving energy. One example of this is the Big Gym being equipped with motion-censor lights. It is a great effort in the building to conserve!

The M.A.S.H. program is up and running. The Mandatory Academic Study Hall is provided for freshmen who have two or more F's at the quarter.

Students in the program are working hard at bringing up their grades and learning. The program is in its second year and is a huge success.

Ms. Garbiel's Oceanogra-phy class has concluded its diving training at the community pool in preparation for their Oceanography and Diving trip in Monterey, Calif.

Good luck to all of the teams competing in regional tournaments beginning this week.

Winter sports seasons are just around the corner. If any student is interested in trying out, be sure to visit the Web site to get all of the proper athletic information necessary prior to trying out.

The end of the first semester is approaching quickly. If you have not signed up for Powerschool yet, be sure to do so. It is a way for parents to track the progress of their son or daughter through checking their grades and attendance. It is an excellent tool for both the school and the parents.

The CHS annual Craft Faire will be Nov. 20 and 21. More information will be available in next week's article.

Be sure to mark it on your calendars, and plan on attending this exciting and wonderful event.

Many unique items will be available for the holidays.
