Appropriations report issued for 2010-2011 budget

Practically everything anybody ever wanted to know about the 2010-2011 biennial budget can be found in the 75th Legislative Appropriations Report.

The inch-thick, spiral bound document prepared by the Legislative Counsel Bureau's fiscal analysis division was released this week. It tracks the process of building the state budget from the governor's recommended spending plan through the final budget crafted by the Legislature.

The 2009 Legislature approved a General Fund operating budget for the biennium totaling $6.548 billion - $374 million more than the budget recommended by Gov. Jim Gibbons.

In addition to General Fund spending, the report contains information on all capital improvement spending, special and one-shot appropriations and programs funded from other sources such as federal grants, highway fund revenues and fee collections.

This year's report contains a separate section on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act which is expected to total $2.2 billion over the biennium.
