Fallon man gets 2 to 10 years for shooting

FALLON (AP) - A 19-year-old Fallon man has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison in connection with a shooting in Fallon in June.

Ebelio Tapia Jr. had pleaded guilty to one count of battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm and two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime. He'll have to serve a minimum of two years.

Tapia shot Patrick Black in the arm as two other men were about to engage in a pre-arranged fight. Police say he was there to serve as an armed backup with a stolen gun.

Boy on life support after pool incident

NORTH LAS VEGAS (AP) - North Las Vegas authorities say a 2-year-old boy initially pronounced dead after being pulled from a backyard pool has responded to efforts to save him and now has a heart beat.

The North Las Vegas Fire Department said Thursday afternoon that the boy is on life support.

Officials say the boy was pulled from the water Thursday morning and resuscitation efforts were started until paramedics arrived.
