Obituary: James L. Ferguson

James L. Ferguson of Gardnerville died Nov. 4, 2009, at the age of 67 after an extended battle with cancer. Jim was born in Eugene, Ore., on March 17, 1942, to Eleanor and Earl Ferguson.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He loved to fish and watch NASCAR. Before his illness he worked as the maintenance supervisor at Carson Valley Residential Care Center in Gardnerville.

He is survived by wife, Kay of Carson City; sisters Elaine of Rocklin, Calif., and Pam Boucer of Chico, Calif.; brother Jesse Ferguson of Nashville, Tenn.; four nieces and three nephews; stepson Scott Gibson of Boise, Idaho; stepdaughters Debbie Riley of Oceano, Calif., and Brandi Edmunds of Sparks; and two light-of-his-life grandsons, Nicholas and Christopher Vaughan of Sparks.

To extended family, Karen Perry and her wonderful staff at Carson Valley Residential Care Center who gave Jim such tender loving care during his extended stay there, thank you.

A memorial service is planned at Carson Valley Residential Care Center, 1189 Kimmerling Rd, Gardnerville, at 10 a.m. Nov. 19.
