Carson City still is hosting two fantastic entertainment experiences next weekend (or today, if you want to attend their matinees ... "Dracula" at 2 p.m., "The King and I" at 1 p.m.
First, "Dracula, the Musical?" is at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St., and plays at 2 p.m. today and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20-21. Very funny, a tad racy, and the bat is stellar (so are the flowers). The cast is great, but Boris, Nelly and Bubu Padoop tickle your funny bone. If you need a good laugh, this is it. Call 883-1976.
"The King and I" ... lovely voices, beautiful sets, costumes, and dancing ... the part of the King was "made" for Leoney Berg, and Sarah Pennebaker is beautiful as Anna Leonowens. Stephanie Arrigotti and Gina Kaskie-Davis leave you with a smile on your face and a tear in your eye. It is being shown at the Community Center, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20-21, with 1 p.m. matinees today and Nov. 21-22. Call 445-4249. You will do yourselves a favor by attending both.

And if you haven't had enough, there are auditions for Proscenium Players, Inc.'s "Thieves' Carnival" at 7 p.m. Monday night at the Children's Museum, 813 N. Carson St. Call 887-0438. Production dates are in May, and the play requires men from teens to 80s and ladies from 8-80. It is a humorous story about thieves, masquerades and love. There may be a part for you!

Ahhhhh, football season. Sandy and Wayne Ritz sent us this one from the Internet: "A guy took his blonde (what else?) girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats, and after the game he asked her how she liked it. 'Oh, I did ... especially the tight pants and all the big muscles. But, I don't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents.' Dumbfounded, he asked, 'What do you mean?' 'Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it, and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarter back! Get the quarter back!' I'm like ... Helloooo? It's only 25 cents!'"

Mike's Pharmacy, 1007 N. Curry St., will be holding its annual "Turkey Drop" from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 (you can bet your last buck on who WON'T be there at 6 a.m.). Please donate a frozen turkey for those who are less fortunate. We all appreciate it. FISH, local churches and charities will also be collecting turkeys and food for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Teresa Hana was at Jack Davis's funeral the other day, and at "The King and I." She was the late Ted Walker's protege and still has a great interest in boxing. She works at Home Depot, and has her own business, "I Can Move Mountains" at 220-1507. One of our local judges told us she does the work of 10 men ... yard work, lawn mowing, hauling and odd jobs. M has known Teresa for 31 years ... she's a great gal.
