Free USDA commodity foods will be distributed from 9-11 a.m. today at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

This is a week earlier than normal due to the Thanksgiving

holiday.

This month's commodity foods include frozen deli turkeys, lima beans, cranberry apple juice, canned pork, milk, canned corn, mixed fruits, peaches, apricots, frozen sliced ham, macaroni, canned tuna, tomato soup and frozen orange juice.

Any needy family in Carson City can be eligible by signing the "Issuance Sheet" available today at the Community Center certifying that their household's annual income does not exceed 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. Those guidelines currently are $20,036 annual income for a single person and $26,955 for a couple.

No proof of income is required, but you must have a picture ID or drivers license. Food may be picked-up for the homebound or those unable to attend by bringing a signed note from them and their picture ID.
