New business license center opens

The Carson City Business License and Building Permit Center, located inside the city offices at 2621 Northgate Lane, has moved from Suite 6 to Suite 62. The new Permit Center will offer one-stop public access for building permits, business licenses and zoning permits, as well as related information.

The center's move is part of a consolidation of office space at the Northgate office complex.

The Retired Seniors Volunteer Program office, currently located at the city's corporate yard on Butti Way, will move into Suite 6 at the Northgate office complex to provide more convenient access to their services.

The permit center is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m.

Bobby Bean named distinguished agent

Bobby Bean, an American Family Insurance agent in Carson City, has been recognized for customer satisfaction excellence under the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Insurance Agency Program. Been, located at 1621 Highway 50 East Ste. E., has been an agent since November 2001.

Only agencies that perform in the top 20 percent of all agencies nationwide based on customer satisfaction surveys are eligible to become a Distinguished Insurance Agency.


Business connections meeting slated

Nevada Business Connections next breakfast meeting will be at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson St. Secretary of State Ross Miller will speak on Nevada's business climate.

International Association of Administrative Professionals Reno chapter meets the second Tuesday of each month at the NV Energy Building in the auditorium at 6100 Neil Road in Reno.

Bullentini, Satre to be inducted into Hall

Piero Bullentini and Phil Satre will be inducted into the Business Leaders Hall of Fame on Oct. 17.

The Hall of Fame Gala, now in its 24th year, is a fundraiser for Junior Achievement of Northern Nevada.

Bullentini was named president of Martin Ironworks in 1989 after working for the company in various positions since he was 18. In 2002, he received the Skill, Integrity, and Responsibility Award from the Nevada chapter of Associated General Contractors, and he serves as a national board member for the contractors association.

Satre served as the top executive of Harrah's Entertainment for more than 2 years before retiring in early 2005.

He continues to as a member of the boards of directors of NV Energy, Rite Aid Corp., the Nevada Cancer Institute and the National D-day Foundation.


ElectraTherm named top Green Company

ElectraTherm of Carson City will be recognized as Green Company of the Year

by Nevada's Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology.

ElectraTherm developed systems to generate electricity from waste and geothermal heat or pressure instead of fossil fuels.

The NCET awards dinner, recognizing four technology companies and four technology professionals, will be held at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno. Tickets are $75, or $600 for tables of eight.
